Villa Kalypso

If you are looking for a family hotel in Greece our apartment in Villa Kalypso at Kairos Garden is a great choice. It sleeps seven (plus) and is surrounded by a big garden.

We (me - Tove, my husband Christos and our two sons - read about us here) live on the ground floor of Villa Kalypso, while the huge apartment upstairs is available for guests.

With three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a big kitchen/living room/dining room on a total of 120 square meters, plus balconies outside all rooms, you´ll have plenty of space, whether you are a big family or a group of friends on vacation together.

From the main balcony outside the living room/dining room you have stunning views to olive groves and vineyards, and far below, the glittering Mediterranean sea and the island of Thasos. To the north, the view is of green hills and mountains and in the south, on clear days, you´ll be able to even see the pyramid shaped holy Mount Athos.

The balcony outside the kitchen has shade in the morning and is the perfect place to enjoy your morning tea or coffee.

The kitchen is quite basic. The fridge is big, and here is a small cooker and a water boiler for tea or coffee. Here´s also all you need of plates, glasses, pans and cutlery, so that you can cook a simple meal.

If you prefer, you can have breakfast or dinner at our family run garden restaurant.

The dining room is a part of the open area kitchen/living room.

In the summer, with the light summer breeze coming through the open windows and balcony doors, the living room is a nice, cool place to relax with a good book.

Choose one from our library if you want to and don't worry about finishing it before you leave - you can take it with you.

If you want leave another book here. Good literature should be recirculated!

On a chilly night in spring, autumn or even winter you might want to light the fire place.

As the apartment also has central heating Villa Kalypso is also a wonderful place to stay during your winter holidays.

As this enthusiastic testimonial from a family that stayed with us during Christmas shows, even during winter here´s plenty of things to see and do.

Here´s no television - we believe you´d rather spend some quality time with family and friends - whether it´s going for walks, exploring the area or playing games (you´ll find both backgammon, chess and cards in the apartment, plus plenty of Lego and other toys for younger children).

THE BEDROOMS AND BATHROOMS

Our son Jason draw the monster in the niche above the bed some years ago, and I think it would be a shame to paint it over! The monster room has one double bed and one single bed. The room has a balcony with view to the garden, the fields and the sea.

Both the bedrooms on the back side of the house has two single beds. The rooms share one big balcony with views to our neighbours olive grove and fig trees, as well as the mountains.

We don´t have air condition, but all bedrooms have air fans in the ceiling.

We have a baby cot, plus a spare madras and a spare bed, so sleeping arrangements can be made quite flexible.

There´s also the possibility for one person to sleep in the living room.

Use of washing machine costs 5 euros.

There are two bathrooms.

The main bathroom even has a balcony so you can brush your teeth while enjoying the view towards the village and the mountains and listening to the birds singing...
