Greece Currency: Currency Calculator and Where to Withdraw Money

The currency in Greece today is euro. In the area of Eleftheres and Kavala cash is still much more common than cards and in most shops and restaurants you will not be able to use a card or check.

There are cash withdrawal machines in both Iraklitsa and Peramos. You can also change money at the post office and in Agrotiki Bank in Peramos. Both are situated at the main street along the sea.

CURRENCY CALCULATOR:

Until 2002 it used drachma was used in Greece, the oldest currency in Europe. In ancient Greece the drachma was usually made in silver. Different systems of weight determined the value of the drachma coin - and it varied from different places and different periods. In Athens around 400 BC the weight would be approximately 4,36 gram, while 200 years later one drachme would weight 4,12 grams.
