Greece Currency:

CURRENCY CALCULATOR

WHERE TO WITHDRAW MONEY

The currency in Greece today is euro. In the area of Eleftheres and Kavala cash is still much more common than cards and in most shops and restaurants you will not be able to use a card or check.

At Kairos Garden we DO NOT take credit cards. There is a cash withdrawal machine at the Agrotiki Bank in Peramos. You can also change money at the post office and in the bank. Both are situated at the main street along the sea.

CURRENCY CALCULATOR:

Until 2002 drachma was used in Greece, the oldest currency in Europe. In ancient Greece the drachma was usually made in silver. Different systems of weight determined the value of the drachma coin - and it varied from different places and different periods. In Athens around 400 BC the weight would be approximately 4,36 gram, while 200 years later one drachme would weight 4,12 grams.
