Greek Cookie Recipe: Melomakarona
No Christmas in Greece without Melomakarona! Here follows an easy Greek cookie recipe - you can't fail this recipe for Melomakarona, it's very easy: 250 gram butter or margarineOne cup sunflower oilOne cup sugarOne cup orange juiceOne cup cognacThe peel of one orangeOne teaspoon cloveTwo teaspoons baking powderEnough flour to make a dough that is very softSyrup:Two cups of sugarTwo cups of honeyTwo cups of waterThe juice of half a lemonGarniture:Finely chopped walnuts mixed with cloveWhip butter, sugar and oil. Add juice, cognac and spices. Mix the baking flour with some of the flour, and add enough flour for a dough that is quite loose. Shape small cookies, the size and shape of a thumb, and cook in oven on 200 degrees C until light brown. Let the cookies cool. Mix the ingredients for the syrup and pour over the cookies.
