Nea Iraklitsa a great beach and lovely seaside resort
Nea Iraklitsa is one of our neighbouring sea side villages and most of the summer guests staying with us in our retreat in Eleftheres love to spend a day or two on one of the beaches here or to have lunch in one of the sea front restaurants. Founded by refugees from Asia Minor after the first world war, Nea Iraklitsa - the newIraklitsa - was only a small hamlet with tiny cottages and poor inhabitants. But as beach life become popular, the village grew and now houses holiday homes, hotel and loads of restaurants, coffee shops and bars. The village also has a small marina. There are two good beaches in Nea Iraklitsa, both easily reached by bus from Eleftheres: The main beach stretches from the end of the village towards Kavala, while the other one, Remvi, is hidden behind the marina and the small peninsula with the little church. Remvi is especially good on very hot days, when the waters in the main beach can be a bit unclear. Remvi has also a very good taverna with friendly staff. Other recommended eating places in Nea Iraklitsa is Ta Platania on the sea front (left for the village square, when you stay with your back to the sea) and Symbosio, also on the sea front, further down towards the parking and the main beach. De Facto has great pizza and pasta.
