No one in the world us more olive oil than the population of the Greek island Crete, who each consumes 30 kilos a year. The Cretes are also some of the healthiest people in the whole world and several studies confirms how it is the olive oil that benefits their health.

Here are some of the health benefits:

  • Olive oil lowers the dangerous LDL cholesterol but without lowering the good cholesterol HDL. The body needs a good balance between HDL and LDL, as the good cholesterol helps cleaning the liver from the bad cholesterol.

  • Olive oil contains antioxidants that studies show can prevent cancer.

  • Olive oil is good for the digestive system. In traditional Greek cooking olive oil is used a lot together with lemon, which helps prevent constipation.
