Rock Climbing Greece

Fancy some excitement during your holidays? Try rock climbing! Staying with us at Villa Kalypso in the traditional and beautiful village of Eleftheres you're close to the exciting climbing field of Iraklitsa.

Here you can do both sports climbing in bolted routes and traditional climbing. In some of the routes you'll need two rope lengths.

This mountain consists of limestone, and it is quite structured and not slippery.

In addition to the climbing field of Iraklitsa a great place to climb is by the river Nestos, only an hours drive from Eleftheres.

In addition, our lovely village is also only a few minutes bus ride from some of the most beautiful beaches in Greece. Staying with us at Villa Kalypso gives you the opportunity to combine lazy days by the sea with climbing. Actually, the climbing field of Iraklitsa is rising straight up from one of the best beaches in this area. On hot summer days you can choose climbing in a shaded wall.

But if you prefer to avoid heat all together and come late autumn, winter or early spring that's also possible. Get a weather report here.

Villa Kalypso has both central heating and a great, open fireplace you might love to stay with us even in the winter. Many find this is the best time of the year to explore this beautiful part of Greece and the mythical mountain of Pangeo.

If you are new to climbing we'll be happy to arrange a climbing course.

We're co-operating with one of the most experienced climbers of Greece, Alexandros Tsiligeorgis, and his certificated assistants. You can hire them for one day, as a local knowledge guide, or for your whole holiday if you need instruction or are new to climbing.

In addition to be a qualified rock climbing instructor, Alexandros is also a ski instructor and mountain guide with more than 20 years of experience as a climber, instructor and teacher. He has participated in Greek expeditions to Himalaya, Andes and Antarctica. Alexandros has also participated in opening over a 100 new routes for climbers.
