The movie Shirley Valentine has a special place in my heart, as the location is Mykonos, the island where Christos and I met - and where he used to live and we still have many friends. One of our best friendŽs is actually an extra in this film! But apart from my personal reasons, this truly is a feel good movie for cold winter nights. Married housewife and mother of teenagers wins a ticket to the sun and sets off with her best friend. Best friend soon finds a lover, which leaves Shirley with plenty of time on her own, to reflect on her own life. Where did all the fun go? What happened to her old lust for life? The classic scene is where she puts the table in the sand and sits down next to the waves with a glass of wine..because sheŽd always dreamed of doing it. A movie about taking your dreams seriously. Absolutely worth watching, even more than 20 years since it was made. Buy it here
