Walking Holidays Greece Explore the beautiful area around Eleftheres by foot
We will never forget the beautiful walks in the mountains and between olive trees and vines. We'd love to come back! Froeydis and Eli, guests spring 2008
If you love walking, you'll love your holidays at Kairos Garden. Here are plenty of beautiful routes - whether you want to go for a lazy stroll or to choose a more challenging hike. The village of Eleftheres is situated in the side of the mountain of Symbosio (which highest point is at 693 meter above sea level).
The old town with it´s old church is on the top of the village, a ten minutes walk from the hotel. From here you can continue up in the mountain on track roads or goat paths. The views are amazing! Many of my guests decide to walk or run up early morning, to enjoy the view of the sun rising from the sea.
Walk to the beach We´re only three kilometres from the sea, so it´s fully possible to walk to the beach! But instead of taking the main road, you´ll probably enjoy better walking on the country roads between the olive groves and vineyards. Reaching the sea you can continue pass the ruins of the Byzantine castle out on the peninsula of Vrasida, where the road slopes along the sea - sometimes we see dolphines playing in the bay here! And what better way to finish your walk with a dip in the sea!
Hiking in the mountains This region of Greece is called the Pangeo region, after the mythical and fascinating mountain of Pangeo. It´s peak reaches 1956 meters and in the winter it will be covered by snow. We´re also close to the Nestos national park, and a walk along the Nestos river, in a landscape that makes you believe you´ve suddenly been transferred into a cowboy&western movie, is absolutely recommended.
For hiking in Pangeo - or if you'd like, in the neighbouring mountain area of Rodopi, Falakro or Lekani, we co-operate with Irini (photo below). Irini is a certified, officially authorized mountain guide with great local knowledge and education in first aid. Add that Irini is fluent in English and one of the most enthusiastic persons I've ever met in Greece! Irini charges 80 euro pr.day, for a group of maximum five persons (on the most challenging route no more than four persons). Additional cost is transport to/from starting and ending point.
